O’Brien & Levine Backs Civics Education as Sponsor of Massachusetts Bar Association’s Civics Bee

Being an active participant in the community is a signature characteristic of O’Brien & Levine’s culture. For over thirty years, the company has proudly supported legal industry and youth-focused organizations by rolling up their sleeves to help the diverse and innovative communities in which they work and live. In a nutshell: they believe that by working together, everyone makes a difference. This is precisely why O’Brien & Levine is supporting The Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) in their quest to advance the quality of civic education in the state as a sponsor of the Civics Bee.

In partnership with iCivics, a national digital learning platform, the Mass Bar Association is helping the Commonwealth to implement strong civics instruction at the 8th grade level. To accomplish this, the MBA is hosting a Civics Bee on Wednesday, February 13th in Boston. Teams will compete for prizes as they demonstrate civics knowledge by answering questions related to local, state and federal government. The Civics Bee is intended to raise money towards the mission to teach young people how the government works, explain civil rights and explore personal responsibility as productive citizens of the United States. O’Brien & Levine’s owner and President, Kenny Zais describes their unwavering support: “We are delighted to be a part of the Mass Bar Association’s Civics Bee. Giving back and being a part of the legal community is a hallmark of O’Brien & Levine. We feel that supporting our next generation is some of the most important work we can do. I not only believe it’s our responsibility, it’s simply the right thing to do.”

The trivia-style fundraiser is a creative and exciting opportunity for Massachusetts lawyers to share their passion for civics and the law. By joining the MBA in raising funds for iCivics, the community directly impacts how young people learn through experiencing the workings of the government first hand. MBA President, litigator and advocate for enhanced civics education, Chris Kenney explains: “the Massachusetts Bar Association is deeply committed to quality civic education for kids. The MBA Civics Bee is a fun way to build awareness while raising money to implement enhanced civics curriculum across all Massachusetts’ secondary schools.”

O’Brien & Levine encourages the greater legal community to come out and support the MBA’s fundraiser on Wednesday, February 13th at 530pm at their location on 20 West Street in Boston, MA.
